COLUMBUS, Ohio, Dec. 29, 2009 – American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP) is seeking offers to supply low-sulfur coal to one or more power plants operated by its Ohio Power Co. subsidiary.

AEP is seeking proposals for spot deliveries ranging from 10,000 to 60,000 tons of low-sulfur coal per month, delivered by rail or barge, beginning in January 2010 and extending up to six months.

Coal proposal package(s) must be received by AEP no later than 5 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 6. Proposals can be submitted by e-mail to coalrfp@AEP.com, faxed to 614-583-1619 (attn.
