COLUMBUS, Ohio, March 22, 2010 – American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP) is seeking offers for the supply of coal to one or more of its generating stations.
AEP is seeking spot-coal delivery proposals for up to 150,000 tons of coal per month, delivered by rail or barge beginning in July 2010 and ending in December 2010 and also beginning in January 2011 extending through December 2011. Additionally, AEP is seeking term-delivery proposals for the supply of up to two million tons per year, delivered by rail or barge beginning Jan. 1, 2011 for a term of three to five years. AEP will consider procuring Illinois Basin coal, contingent on the results of test burns the company plans to conduct this year. The actual accepted length of all bids will be at AEP’s discretion. AEP is open to alternative pricing structures or other innovative, value-added concepts. Proposals with alternative terms will be accepted.
