SHREVEPORT, La., November 14, 2005 - Chesley Walker has been named Manager, Distribution System for the new Texarkana District. Walker will be responsible for the Mt. Pleasant, Texarkana, Nashville, DeQueen, Ashdown, Atlanta and New Boston areas.  Walker has been serving as a Supervisor, Distribution System in Texarkana since 1996.
 
“The creation of the Texarkana District will provide the customer focus needed as the Texarkana I-30 corridor continues to be one of SWEPCO’s high-growth areas,” said Malcolm Smoak, SWEPCO VP Distribution Region Operations. SWEPCO also has operating districts in Longview, Shreveport, La., and Fayetteville, Ark.
 
A 27-year company employee in Texarkana, Walker began his career as a meter reader in 1978 and has worked in several dispatching, engineering, construction and distribution positions. A native of Hope, Ark., Walker graduated from high school there and earned a bachelor of applied arts and sciences degree from Texas A&M University -Texarkana in 1992.
 
Walker is married to the former Lila Bowden of Texarkana, Texas. He serves on the Texarkana, Arkansas Electrical Board and attends St. James Episcopal Church in Texarkana.
