AEP Texas Restores 92% of Customers Affected By Hurricane Beryl

July 10, 2024

AEP Texas crews made great strides Wednesday restoring power to customers affected by Hurricane Beryl. Crews have restored electric service to 92% of the 35,500 customers left without power after the storm made landfall early Monday.

Refined ETRs were released early Wednesday for customers whose homes and physical locations are able to receive power. Crews will continue to work late into the night Wednesday to restore as many customers as possible.

As crews continue restoring electric service, customers are reminded of the following:

  • Please do not approach crews working. Distractions to our crews while they work with high voltage lines and equipment could be disastrous or even deadly.
  • All downed power lines should be considered energized and dangerous. Do not touch anything in contact with the line, such as trees, fences, or puddles of water. Keep children and pets inside during and after the storm. Stay at least ten feet away from any downed power line.
  • If you plan to use a portable generator, always follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

Customers can sign up for outage alerts at AEPTexas.com and follow us on social media.
