AEP Texas thanks customers, urges continued safety as cold weather persists

January 22, 2025

AEP Texas would like to thank all customers affected by outages this week for your patience and trust as our crews worked to restore electric service. As cold temperatures and winter weather will affect the AEP Texas service territory through the weekend, crews remain ready and prepared to respond any outage situation.

Customers are urged to remember the following safety messages:

  • All downed power lines should be considered energized and dangerous. Do not touch anything in contact with the line, such as trees, fences, or puddles of water. Stay at least 10 feet away from any downed power line.
  • If you plan to use a portable generator, always follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Customers on life support systems or other medical equipment that rely on electricity should have a solid backup plan for areas where prolonged outages may occur.
