An important function of AEP Texas's Economic and Business Development is to provide industry insights to state leaders and companies moving to Texas.
Dale Fowler, Economic and Business Development manager for AEP Texas hosted a Lunch & Learn session for the Governor's Office of Economic Development and Tourism to continue the positive relationship AEP Texas and the governor's office has had over the years.
"The governor's office is the clearing house for many industrial projects that are interested in Texas as a location for their near investment," Fowler said. "Our goal is to influence as many projects to the AEP service area."
Great Lakes Cheese (GLC) is a good example of the types of businesses AEP Texas is helping to bring.
In April 2021, Governor Greg Abbott announced that GLC, a cheese manufacturer and packager, would establish a new distribution facility in Abilene, bringing over 500 jobs and nearly $185 million in capital investment to the region.
"The group listened to President and CEO Misty Mayo of the Development Corporation of Abilene, who explained how AEP Texas played a crucial role in bringing GLC to their community," Fowler said.
Fowler says these relationships with AEP Texas help community economic development teams with projects.
