AEP Texas Restoration in West Texas Update: 11 a.m., 1-2-2021

January 2, 2021

As of 11 a.m. on Saturday morning, the AEP Texas Restoration Team had reduced the Abilene District residents still without power to number of outages resulting from the winter storm to 33, as compared to the 2,200 peak outages at 6 a.m. on Friday.

Of the remaining Abilene District outages, almost all were located in the Cisco area including Cross Plains, Rising Star and Albany.

The winter storm did not hit the San Angelo District as much as expected.  As of 11 a.m., there were only 25 outages in the San Angelo area, and almost all of the San Angelo District occurred after the storm.

“We anticipate restoration of service to most customers by early this afternoon,” said Greg Blair, AEP Texas manager of External Affairs and Customer Service.  “My thanks to our AEP Texas and contract crews who worked through the New Year’s Day holiday to restore electric service.  I also thank our city leaders and customers who provided support through their patience and understanding.”
